Finding marquees of a specific size?

Hi Everyone,

I recently acquired a MAME box that someone put a lot of time and energy into building, but didn't quite finish.  It was not custom built, but rather it appears they pulled apart an old working machine.  I've done some work to it, and I'm ready to put in a nice marquee.  I measured and it appears that the old marquee on the box (which was custom-cut so it wasn't an exact fit) was approximately 26 3/4" x 7 3/4".  Note that the cabinet fits a 25" monitor.  Is there a place I can go to find a list of marquees available for this size?  I see I can buy some custom-printed ones to your specified size, but I'd rather get a real marquee.

I don't know of a database of Marquee dimensions... do you know what the cab was originally? Maybe if we know the manufacturer we will know a set of game marquees that would fit (show a pic if you aren't sure, we might be able to identify it).

Hmm, I'm not sure what was originally in the cabinet.  When I got it, the previous owner had already painted over everything.  I remember seeing a sticker inside one of the coin mech doors that said "Mfg Aug 1991" on it, but nothing to indicate what the original game was.  I can have another look and see if there was any other indicators that I might have missed.

From what I've seen, it looks like the standard marquee size (or at least a standard marquee size) seems to be something like 24x9, is that right?  That's definitely too narrow... is there a "standard" size somewhere around 26.5 and 27" wide?

Could you post pics of the cab so people can make more informed suggestions? Front and side views would be great since the styling or side profile may suggest a game with the right size marquee.

Are there any colors, styles, themes, or specific marquees that you would like if they did fit?

Thanks for the links, it looks like there is a lot of good information there.  I searched the rest of the cabinet and I can't find any other indicator of what the original game was, other than the sticker on the coin mechs that says they were manufactured August 1991.  I believe these are the original coin mechs that were installed in the unit.

I've attached a few pics as requested.  The art on the control panel is non-original (the previous owner put some contact paper down over what was originally there).  He also rearranged the buttons.  I attached a pic of the underside of the control panel where you can see where some of the original buttons used to be before he cut holes and installed new ones.

Crap, I really want to figure this out...  a 4 player cab, where each player had a joystick and 4 buttons. Possibly a Midway sports game cab (but they only had 3 buttons I think), or a Capcom or Konami beat-em-up. Can't find any pics of those that are an exact match though... the Capcom Dungeons & Dragons games would have had the right controls for that panel...

You're right in that it looks similar to Midway Games Sports cabs of the early 90's like NBA Jam, Super High Impact, or 2 on 2 Open Ice, but 4 buttons really throws it off. Not sure.
