bluetooth keyboard for my mac

Ive moved my mac to the living room. Im thinking I might get a bluetooth keyboard and mouse so I can sit on the couch and just use the telly. Right now Im sitting on the floor! Very bad for my posture... My ten dollar k-mart usb keyboard has served me well, but maybe its time to get fancier.

Anyone had experience with this? Pretty much any usb keyboard works on a mac, but I'm uncertain about bluetooth. This looks pretty cool, being solar powered and all:

But if there's something that isn't all that fancy, but fits on my lap and works with Mac, then I'd rather spend less...

I'm assuming pretty much any bluetooth mouse will work...

The official Mac bluetooth keyboard is possibly the best keyboard on the planet. Obviously that's not the case for someone who prefers the giant clackety-clack IBM-style keys, but even then the Mac keyboard will be far less offensive than any other chicklet-style keyboard. Also it's super small (no numeric keypad).

Yeah, I didn't even think of Mac because I assumed they would be pricey. But the price isn't bad at all. A bit more in Australia ($75) but not bad. Just have to get a mouse from somewhere else, the keyboard price is a pleasant surprise, but the mouses (mice, meece) aren't quite as surprising

I use this mouse for my media center PC and I've been really happy with it. It's very comfortable to use one-handed, and while it's not an ideal keyboard to type with, it is handy to have a full keyboard at my fingertips for light-duty stuff while I'm mousing about. Actually, that's not the exact mouse I use. I use its predecessor, which has an actual trackball in place of the little thumb-sized trackpad, and mine isn't backlit. Both of these features would make a tremendous improvement to my mouse, though. The keys on mine are super difficult to see in a dim room. And since it has a mechanical trackball, just bumping the remote triggers the on-screen display when I'm watching a movie or something (because the remote registers mouse movement, however slight). With that said, if price is more important the one I have can still be had and much less expensively.

That's cause its almost like using a multi touch touchscreen device.  There are a ton of gestures you can do without actually clicking the mouse.  Its hard to go back to a normal mouse.

Just an update. I bought the mac bluetooth keyboard which has worked beautifully. The batteries have only just this day become completely flat. When it gets down to (crap, forgotten already) 15% or so, it will warn you every now and then. Even when it got down to 0% it worked for a few hours.

I have a Mac which I use daily but has to fight with my four other PC monitors when I have to access it.  But when I need to look at what is going on it is a real PITA to sort out the HDMI connectors in my cable hell so I splurged for Splashtop HD. 

It just works perfectly.  I can control my Mac anywhere in the house with full sound, and if I subscribe I can control it from anywhere in the connected world.  It works with Android or IOS and if you have a Tegra 3 you can play games directly on the tablet like WOW.  Also I have Synergy working on the PC so I can use my keyboard and mouse to work on the Mac.  My Belkin Bluetooth keyboard and mouse works a treat too when I want to control the Mac via Splashtop HD.

The same goes for all my Linux boxes and PCs.  Soon my monitors will evolve into projectors as I like cinema computing. 

I just got IDisplay as I have got like 5 Android tablets in various sizes.  Well you can have 5 (or more) virtual displays for the PC or Mac which means if you are in the living room watching a movie on your mac and you want to know what is going on at BYOAC you can create a virtual instance on your tablet.  Why would you?  Good point.  I use this when I need my four screens on the road.  Splashtop HD is £4.99 50% off at the moment and IDisplay is £2.99.

The only gripe I have with the Belkin Bluetooth keyboard is goes to sleep too quickly, the mouse doesn't but you find yourself typing in the ether if you are not looking.

I have to say this lil Mac keyboard is great like that. I can't tell that it's gone to sleep (if it even has), but the batteries lasted all this time so whatever they are doing, it works fine (",)

It's a bit of an irony that I'm here to say don't buy the (still excellent) Mac keyboard, since I made the original recommendation for the Mac keyboard. But I'm using a Logitech K810 now, and it's spectacular. It's beautiful--brushed metal like the Mac keyboard, but much darker like nickel or gunmetal. It's approximately the same size as the Mac keyboard, has a perfect layout and is a joy to type on. But what really sets this thing apart is that it has three Bluetooth buttons up top, each representing a separate profile. So, for example, button #1 is associated with my main PC, button #2 is associated with my media center PC, and button #3 is associated with my iPad. To disconnect from one device and connect to another, I just tap a single button--no silly removing of devices and going through the whole discovery/pairing process. It's actually got some other features that I don't really think about, but are nonetheless awesome. For example, the backlight only comes on when needed (ambient light sensor), and there's a hand-sensor so the light comes on as your fingers approach the keyboard. This is cool on its own, but it also improves battery life pretty substantially.

Also, and this is the biggie, it's great for Windows 8.
