Resistor ID Needed
« on: August 05, 2012, 01:49:48 am »
Hi everyone,

Please see attached.

This is in a Kortek monitor.  Need Resistor "R516"

Three Questions:

1) Just want to confirm that this is just a generic ceramic style resistor and nothing special. Writing is: YUMI 5W15K Ohm J.  I just plan to just pick up a 15K ceramic at the store (5W or higher).

2) One of the leads has snapped half way down (on the far side not pictured).  Besides brute force any idea what could cause this?  I am in the middle of a conversion project and I just want to make sure that I didn't do anything horribly wrong in my wiring.

3) This one is off the wall but I have always wondered.  What would happen if the AC wires coming into a monitor (Common and Neutral) were connected backwards.

Thanks for your help!!!

hi
u know what we would do in the trade is take a piece of soild wire and wire from the open end down to the board, unless of course your resister reads open?
or u could spend the .75 cent's and put in a new 1 ? that come's down to look

Shipping something from the U.S. to Canada for repair/exchange?  Please use USPS to avoid (additional?/excessive?) shipping charges.  PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks Ed.

Took your advice. Ended up just shortening the lead on the other end.  Original leads were quite long.

See attached for the picture I am getting.  Green with moving horizontal lines.  Just wanted to see if this problem rang a bell with you before I made a new post.
