It was....different than I thought. Pretty good, actually, which (I think) is why Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Porter signed on. (Well, Portman did do the second Star Wars, which maybe might've been good if not for.....) Definitely an epic story line; much more than pretty visuals.

I enjoyed it a lot. Granted, Thor's humbling went MUCH quicker in the movie than it did in the comics, but hey, at least the important concepts transferred.

I still have to watch Captain America before I watch Avengers. Thor definitely did not seem like a typical superhero movie. It was pretty good, though.

Captain America did a decent job with the story - it was very slow paced though. Felt like it dragged a bit much. Avenger... omg. I'm shocked you haven't seen it yet. Amazing. There were scenes where I laughed so hard I had tears.

If they don't make a new Hulk movie after Avengers, heads will roll.

So, Thor and Loki were looking for some excitement and decided to leave Valhalla to visit Earth and score a couple of dates for the evening. After hitting the clubs the boys got lucky, spent the night with pretty girls and later returned home. Talking about the night before, Thor told Loki he had a good time, but felt guilty because he hadn't revealed his true identity to the young lady. He'd decided to go back to Earth, visit her and reveal the truth. Loki told him to do what you need to, but I'm staying put. Thor returned, and upon meeting the girl said "Look, last night was great, but I need to come clean, I'm really Thor". She said "You're Thor?! I can't pith!".

The Avengers proved that Hulk works best in a group, not on his own. We don't need another Hulk movie, just the next Avengers one.

Meh. Now that they don't have 45 minutes to fill with backstories the Avengers aren't going to be all that great. It'll be 15 minutes of story and 90 minutes of random battle royal sequence.

I really like it... Liked the era, liked the retro-futuristic German technology. Cap is probably a tough sell because its such old material -his origin story has to involve WWII and Red Skull. The Fantastic Four movie and that first Hulk movie are the only ones I that I think are total duds. Oh yea, Wolverine Origins was a stinker, too. My comic nerd buddy was pissed off because they ---fouled up beyond all recognition--- Dead Pool all up in that one.

Your saying if it had a R rating you would have liked it?
Sometimes movies that have some "old fashioned morals" is what we need.
So would you say Thor is bad too because its "too clean"?

I really like movies that are in the WW2 era and have the "sci fi" tech. Actually Cap is my favorite Marvel movie after the Avengers. So my Marvel favorites list would be:
The Avengers
Captain America
Iron Man 2
Thor
Iron Man

The others don't even have a spot on the list.

I had never seen it so I watched it last night. The story sucks, basically. It's two hours long and about 45 solid minutes of it is Tony Stark talking about how awesome he is. Then another 15 minutes of Mickey Rourke mumbling to himself in extreme closeups.

I've watched the first a few times, but only once for the 2nd and no desire to rewatch. Maybe that's just me, preferring the origin story of a superhero.

That is no different than all hero mythology. That's really what comics are based on. Greek, Roman, etc, they all battle constantly but rarely kill each other off. It's the classic "struggle of the immortals".

Not at first. But it got boring having the tables tipped so, so the fell back on the epic story.

Batman does seem to be the most adult of the main franchises. I have yet to see the latest.

Probably not. They do, however, have to have good movies. Dark or not the Dark Knight movies are excellent.
