Resize Mala Layouts
« on: July 31, 2012, 08:56:36 am »
Hi Everyone,

This is my first post on the forums and I wasn't sure whether to put this here, or in Artwork so please bear with me.

I have several layouts that I have downloaded for mala, but to get a flicker free display I have to set my desktop to 640x288 instead of 640x480. This of course causes the layouts to not look correct. I did try to resize one using GIMP but I have no clue on how to do it, and when I put the layout back into mala it showed nothing but the mame version and a black screen. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Noah

You will need to rebuild the layout in MaLa as you can't scale the MLL file.
You can scale the image, but that would requiure photoshop.
I do believe I got an email from you, however I will not resize the layouts I make available on the MaLa site.

HOWEVER............. if you want a custom layout $25 !

resizing/making a mala layout is really easy. The only thing you need is photo editing software and mala layout editor (malalayout.exe, comes with mala).
If you have no clue where to begin...start by reading http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Mala_Layout and here's a german tutorial http://www.arcadezentrum.com/forum/showthread.php?984-Tutorial-Layout-mit-MaLaLayout-erstellen

a++ for Mike's work. I too could not get 640x480 without the annoying flicker. Here's my 640x288 layout he made for me the other day. It's very simple, by my request, and fits in quite naturally with the neogeo cab. well worth the $25

**note: he supplied a font for this layout's overall look and feel, but I haven't yet installed it.

Thanks thaddeussmith,

I appreciate the kind words.
Collectivly we were able to develop a concept and work on a layout I think works well with the NEO GEO machine.
I included 2 versions of the layout (640x480 & 480x288), and a load screen for $25.
Please to work with thaddeussmith and everyone is happy !
If anyone would like a layout PM me.

640x288, not 480x288. important to correct, given the topic of this discussion. ;)
