WG 25K2193 No video Help
« on: July 18, 2012, 10:04:07 pm »
I have a Mortal Kombat II cab that has been changed over to a Tekken Tag machine. I bought it this way and I have had it for about 4 or 5 years now and after I moved almost 2 years ago I havent played it much and it sat for a few months and then went to turn it on one day a few weeks ago and there was zero picture. Everything else work, marquee lights up, sound works, game plays (Cant see what your doing), just no video.

When I turned it on I did smell a mild burning electrical smell but I couldnt see any smoke or really pin point it and could see anything that looked burnt or a cap anywhere that may have popped. I have zero clue about these and dont have a clue where to start. Anyone have any ideas on what to look for at all?

Thanks for any help.

Anyone? Or anyone know of a good repair place in Minnesota. Northern Minneapolis are perhaps. I am about 30 miles north of Minneapolis.

Would really like to get this thing fixed.  :(

do you have neck glow?
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

The end of the tube where that bored plugs in does not lite up/glow. I do have a digital multi meter and do know my way around some electronics but I have never worked on an arcade monitor ever and until I got this cab I have never seen one up close so I dont know where to begin with them and I dont want to get zapped either. lol

Well, I think I am going to have to give up on this thing. I cant seem to find any real info on testing the power supply or anything on this and I cant find anyone even remotely close to me that works on these things anymore. And the ones that do wont make house calls as I have no way to transport it.  :(

Keep on searching I guess...  :dunno

fi you can't fix then buy a replacement chassis, there are U.S suppliers of universal chassis at a price that is cheaper than a repair
All you need to supply the seller with is the tube size, neck pin config,ac input voltage and yoke impedance readings

the reason u cannot find any exact info on the #
is because wg made series of monitor's that define a group
with your as wg25K then u look on there support site
under 25" K series
which in turn could be a kv7400
now if u are confused ?,just do a favor here
look at the back of the cabinet so u can see the monitor.
if u know what a flyback look's like ?
hint it is a big black thing with a red wire comming off of the top of it,
chk to see if it is on your left or right side..this will define which of the k series chassic u have.
better yet toss a picure up..we can nail it in for u.
then we can better get u going again.

Hippie, I'm almost certain you are correct: U2000 (K2193). I pulled the board layout straight from the WG site and it sure looks like your pics to me. I've attached it here. There are several docs on their site that you might find useful, including a troubleshooting guide and schematics. Go to the below link, U2000 (25") is right near the top of the list:

https://www.wellsgardner.com/service/

Also, I found an older thread on the same monitor with a couple pages of testing/discussion: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=80698.0

Good luck!

Well, its been a very long time and I am going to take a stab at this one more time.

Today I pulled the back off, fired up the machine and this time I actually seen a little bit of smoke coming from somewhere but it stopped to quick so I couldnt follow where it came from. Thinking of pulling the chassis out and taking a look and see if I can see anything that is burnt up or anything. I really miss playing this thing and it stinks just looking at it sit.

I will also get better pictures now that I have a WAY better camera since I took the other ones. Finger crossed! Might be a few days before I report back but if anyone else has any ideas that would be great.
