advanceCD hangs
« on: October 05, 2003, 11:23:23 pm »
I downloaded the advanceCD stuff and added a few ROMs and built and burned the ISO according to instructions.
When I boot from it I can see the linux loader starting, then a screenfull of messages scrolls by real fast (probably linux kernel messages) then the screen goes blank and my NUMLOCK and CAPSLOCK LEDs start blinking, and blinking, and blinking.... and nothing else seems to happen.
I tried ALT-F2, CTRL-ALT-F2 to bring up a different console but nothing happened.
I'm a running on a run-of-the-mill ADI CRT with a PCI All-In-Wonder Pro (ATI rage Pro chipset).

Hey!
I fixed the "Hang problem" by using a different video card, 1 out of the 4 video cards I tried worked, it was an inexpensive yet powerful GeForce 2, I think it works great.

See the list of "compatible video cards" here :

http://advancemame.sourceforge.net/doc-cardcd.html

You can get cheap video cards from www.pricewatch.com

Now I aim to figure out how to disable the annoying menu sounds and disable the annoying video filter (some smoothing filter is on by default, ugly)

Dig it?
