Findings for nVidia GeForce GT 520m and Zotac Zbox
« on: July 03, 2012, 01:03:58 pm »
Hey everyone,

I recently bought a Zotac Zbox (http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=7_126&item_id=046937) to use as a nice, small mame emulator for one of the spare arcade machines I have lying around (Arcade Legends 2 to be specific) since it was mostly a disappointment and no one touches it anymore.

Using a J-Pac to interface with the arcade controls and monitor I was un-successful in getting a stable 15khz out to the monitor using various drivers (older and new).  Used soft15, it detected the card but all the buttons were greyed out, indicating an unsupported chipset and even forcing it using Powerstrip did not end up with pretty results.

Granted, I don't have much experience using software like soft15 or Powerstrip but using the usual steps in the online guides provided and some custom tweaking on my own did not seem to work.

Anyhoo, I'm posting this to let others know as I was unable to find information on the GeForce M line of cards and possibly help someone else possibly looking down this avenue as a possible mame box.

Do not go with this option if you are looking for a painless mame machine option as it is not supported by soft15 and I was not able to get Powerstrip to work with it.

You might ask in the soft15 thread in video.

soft 15 requires an EDID dongle if using any card newer than the old 6xxx series. otherwise you can swap in an ATI card

I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.
