Hantarex MTC 9000 Problem
« on: July 03, 2012, 11:23:54 am »
Hey guys, total noob to all this so hoping you might help out.

I picked up a cab a few weeks back but the monitor doesnt work.

I get sound etc when its switched on but nothing on the screen at all.

Its a Hantarex MTC 9000 and i think its 25inchs.

Now, this is my first arcade cab with a CRT in it.  I have a Mame cab i built myself.

I know nothing about this other than reading up on how to discharge a crt (Which i have never done)

Is there any way to narrow down what the issue is?  should i see a light somewhere even on the CRT to at least tell me its getting power?

Thanks a lot!

Edit; I should say im in Europe, Ireland.

I know its a bad first post! Ive been reading the site for ages and it was a great resources as I built my Mame cab. so thanks for that and future help!

Hey, thanks for the reply.  Do i need to leave it on long to see the glow?

I turned it on there and cant see any glow at all to be honest.  Am i looking at the glass part on the end for the glow?

When i power on the cab, it makes a noise like the screen is switching on, plus theres a slight buzz noise that you would hear from a powered on crt.

But nothing at all on screen, not even a flicker.  Thanks again.

Hey,

I dont have a multimetre, I can get my hands on one though.

I also dont know how to use it either haha, but im a quick learner!  In general i know what it does, reads power off things by touching with the end etc.

If i get a hold of one and come back here would you be able to describe what to do to track down the problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I am also having an issue with my MTC it is the 9110. I do have the glow in the neck of the tube. I am stuck at this point. When I power the system on thew screen does flash white for a split second. I know it is getting about 20000 volts fromt he flyback. I am not new to working on these it has just been a while since I got out of doing it. any suggestions on how to repair? Thanks in advance.
