Galaxian Cocktail Table - Need Game Suggestions
« on: June 24, 2012, 01:49:03 am »
Turning a broken Galaxian cocktail table I just bought into a multicade but I will not be installing a 60 in 1 board. The control panels have one nos joystick and one action button, so I will just be using an old desktop computer to emulate some games that only need those controls. I need some suggestions of what games to include in the table that only require left, right, and an action button to play. I have a few games in mind already but I can't find a list that shows me what games only use those controls. If you can find me a list or just give me a few suggestions that you don't see, it would be very helpful. Thanks! Games I have in mind so far: Galaxian, Galaga, Galaga 3, Galaga 88, Space Invaders, Mario Bros., Tempest, Mappy, Breakout, Arkanoid, and Circus.

Using ROM Lister, you can find specific criteria to find what games would be compatible with your cabinet. Since your's is a Galaxian cocktail cabinet, I will presume it as vertical-screened with one gameplay button.

Code: (ROM Lister; vertical/cocktail) [Select]
'dipvalue name=Cocktail' & (buttons=1 | buttons=0 | !buttons=) & (rotate=90 | rotate=270) & (joy2way | !'control type=') & !(joy4way | joy8way | 49-way | triggerstick | top-fire | rotary | doublejoy8way | doublejoy4way | doublejoy2way | dial | trackball | pedal | lightgun | 'Analog') & (!cloneof & !sample_name= & !emulation=preliminary) &  !('BIOS') &  !('<nplayers>3P alt<' | '<nplayers>4P alt<' | '<nplayers>3P sim<' | '<nplayers>4P sim<')

Code: (List of games vertical/cocktail) [Select]
Alpine Ski (set 1)
Black Hole
Catacomb
Cheeky Mouse
Circus Charlie (level select, set 1)
Dark Warrior
Defend the Terra Attack on the Red UFO
Devil Zone
Galaga (Namco rev. B)
Galaxian (Namco set 1)
Hunchback (set 1)
Kaitei Takara Sagashi
King & Balloon (US)
Magical Spot
Magical Spot II
Mappy (US)
Moon Cresta (Nichibutsu)
Moon Quasar
Mr. Kougar
Navarone
New York! New York!
Ozon I
Pisces
Pleiads (Tehkan)
Pooyan
Radar Scope
Red Alert
Return of the Invaders
SOS
Space Cruiser
Space Fighter Mark II (set 1)
Space Invaders II (Midway, cocktail)
Space Stranger
Speak & Rescue
Spiders (set 1)
Super Casino
The End
UniWar S
Zzyzzyxx (set 1)

Using ROM Lister, you can also specify for horizontal games, too, instead of vertical cocktail games like I posted.

Also, a bit in the wrong section, don't ya think?
