Bummed + TAX
« on: October 03, 2003, 07:47:10 pm »
Well I recieved my D9200 today... Problem is the neck is broke on the tube!!!!!!!!

The thing that makes me mad is it does not look like the shipper did it! the box looks fine... That means they either didnt care or have crappy quality control!
I also paid for 2 day shipping... what a waste!
I have been seeing alot of bad stuff lately about wells gardner.... not good!

Hi,

When I got my WG9200 the metal frame at the top was bent where you mount it at one side. I was able to fix it, but the packing was all broken up in the box.

HEHE.... here's the update..
Apon closer inspection..(I was pretty mad at first so I didnt look real close)

My metal frame is mangled!! the entire frame is pushed in from the back! both the top and bottom tabs are bent.. the bottom all to hell.
It looks like somthing VERY heavy fell on top or the box fell from a distance .
The VERY strange thing is the cardboard box does not look damaged..
The foam inside is cracked though, indicating that he box was mushed...
Ah well....I should be able to finish without it ( I originally wanted to use the monitor to line up the bezal and the top slot where the bezal rests )

Madman,

I posted this in another thread but maybe you can answer it for me:  What is the angle of the monitor face when the monitor base is resting flat on the floor.  The tube angles back some, but I can't seem to find out at what angle.

I have a D9200 on the way and was going to build the monitor shelf this weekend (I hope mine makes it in one piece  ???)

I don't think the D9200 is supposed to rest on the cage like that.  The D9200 has that "universal mount" style cage that pretty much just holds the chassis and protects the neck.  It may be sturdy enough to support the weight of the tube, but I would secure the tube itself because it is so large.  I don't have a D9200, but I think the proper way to mount it is with a monitor bezel board and secure it right from the mounting plates that are above and below the screen.

Here's an example of a bezel board that I lifted from someone's website.  You can see in the photo where the monitor was attached to the board.  (Technically, this example is for a vertical monitor, but you see what I mean.)

Alternately, Scott's Unicade project shows how he used slotted angles to install his monitor.

I would go with one of these methods to install that huge monitor rather than rest it on the cage.  Many 19" horizontal mount monitors were designed to be installed on a shelf, but I don't think I would use that flat bar cage on the D9200 to support it.

Actually, The monitor is way to damaged to tell sorry.... I have to wait now to do my bezel!

As far as needing the mount the by the metal strips on the top and bottom I dont think it's needed.. the frame is PLENTY strong.. Mine is still in one piece and it looks like it went through hell.

However, thats gives me an idea!!! I think i will try to mount it by the metal strips just to make it easier! thanks!
