buddy of mine went to an auction and bought a 8 foot pool table complete with balls and a couple of cue sticks for $10.

after the auction had mostly cleared out, he goes and found 3 guys hanging out on the sidewalk on the far side of the parking lot.

said "hey wanna make 30 bucks?" guys are like "hell yeah" gets the guys to haul said pooltable out of the auction house on a dolly and into the middle of the parking lot.

says "here you go" gives the guys $30 and says "and keep the pooltable"

The stunned "wut" look on these guys faces...

buddy grabs a burger for an hour or so and on the way back passes by the lot, the guys got the pooltable set up and they're playing a game.

best $40 he ever spent

And unless they managed to get that table leveled in the parking lot, also the worst game of pool those guys ever played.

I'm not understanding this story.

I don't know, I'm sure they managed to drag it home or something. Hell, being paid $30 for a pooltable would be enough for some people I guess.

I'm with Jim. I don't get what his point was in this exercise. That was the best $40 he ever spent? I think I'd be better entertained buying groceries.
