hey guys i noticed something just now. When I exported the above ai files as jpg and uploaded them to imgur the colors changed during the upload process.  I assume the color profiles are not the same...

Now I am using a different computer with safari browser, and the images above are not pink and black backgrounds, they are grey-green and black and lack color depth... What am I doing wrong? Should I be worried about sending one of these off to print?

When creating the ai file I set the color palette to CMYK since it would be printed... After reading the tutorials it says I should have done RGB and then converted before printing.

Hope someone knows what I am doing wrong.

Thanks,
Mike

I find it best to work in CMYK from the start, I dont think theres a correct way to do it though.  Some people do the whole thing in RGB, convert it and then try to get the colours as close as possible before sending off to print.. The whole thing is a pain in the ass  :banghead:

It's OK to send CMYK Jpeg files for printing but they won't display OK in some browsers (like Safari), even not display AT ALL in Internet Explorer 8 and less, or with over saturated colors (Firefox and possibly Chrome).

Anyway, I suggest you check the image before printing on a calibrated monitor (I mean, monitor calibrated like the printer) but I wouldn't worry about how it's displayed in a browser. A browser is obviously not intended to display CMYK images ;-)

Your printing company should be able to send you a sample if you ask them nicely, that way you can be certain your colours are correct.

hey sorry for delay seems like this adobe illustrator has been taking up all my time.  I decided to ditch the lady design in favor of something new and fresh.  I've been working on this for a while, and i have a custom control panel overlay to fit it too, just need to figure out a design inspiration for the sides of the machine and call it a day.

I am going to get it printed on backlit PVC film from souldraw:
http://www.souldraw.com/backlit-pvc-film.html

For the cpo i will use vinyl black sticker material as per the websites suggestion.

She told me minimum order size is 10sqft, so i might get some other stuff printed and cut it out myself like decals for the coin mechs to take up the extra free space...

more to come and i havenot forgotten about this machine or this project.

xbox in the cab is amazing, quick to boot to coinops and i couldn't be happier with my controller hacks
