Reformat HDD for Elite 360?
« on: May 26, 2012, 11:13:21 pm »
A friend of mine says that he can't get a HDD to work on a 360 after deleting some things from it.  Is there a way to make the HDD go back to a Factory default?  He can connect it to his laptop and it is a working drive and not crashed, but the Xbox wont recognize it.

Any help will be great!  Thank you.

has he tried formatting it from the xbox360 settings? I remember you had to get the console serial number before doing it because it asks for it.

Format using System -> Memory -> Hard Drive -> Format (or press Y button), enter the serial number of the machine to allow it to format (you find it on the back of the machine or in System -> System information).  I'm not sure if that requires the drive to be detected or not (probably does).  Otherwise you could try using xplorer to install the firmware for the drive again to help it be detected to format.
