G07 blowing F901
« on: May 13, 2012, 10:09:04 pm »
Hey guys,

Have a G07-904 monitor from a ms pac that is dead. The F901 fuse blows. I replaced the HOT and the flyback, put it back together, new fuse, tube on neck of monitor glows purple, makes a crackling sound and the light inside jumps around a lot. After about 30 seconds of this with no picture the fuse blows again and takes the HOT with it usually. I am out of ideas on this one. Any reccomendations as to what might be wrong?

Thanks!

 ???

the tube is shorted or cracked
ethier way u are causing an arc to ground
on the neck baord is what is called a :spark-gap: it is part of the socket
but from what u have stated ^^^ i would think shorted tube /crack in neck where the gas was let out

i agree, if it's purple INSIDE the neck of the tube, there is an issue with the tube.

it should glow a nice mellow orange, not hot plasma arcs. you may have a short inside the tube or have a crack somewhere and the vacuum has been lost.
