Off CL...I got a great deal on a Deer Hunting  cab from a local church.  They said the gun needed calibrating so when I took it home, I did the calibration after I turned up the brightness and it worked for most of the screen...the lower left looks like it needs degaussing and I couldn't shoot there.   I popped open the back panel an found it had a Sharp Image chassis with a Sony tube....??  I'm scratching myhead on this as I didn't think Sony's tubes were OK for arcade machines.

I'll post pics when I get back home, but the monitor had an issue.  When I saw the display, it seemed a little out of whack, but when I got it home for closer inspection, the convergence was off and I had no horizontal position adjustment with the remote knob.  The pic also had a lot of pincushion as well.

Any ideas on where to start to troubleshoot the monitor?

lots of companies make MADE tubes. not a big deal. Sharp image/Kortek chassis where a kind of universal type chassis, made to work with all sorts of different tubes.

if you have a corner that is discolored, it's probably because the metal bracket holding the tube in has become magnetized... or the degauss coil has fallen away from the front of the tube.

as for your no horizontal adjustment and pincushion, usually there is a cap that needs replacing. as for which one, i'm not sure, but given that this monitor is looking at 20 years old, they probably ALL need to be replaced (the bigger ones anyways.)

your convergence could be an out of whack yoke, but i wouldn't mess with it. convergence is often out in the corners. if it's good in the middle, leave it. you will never notice it while in game.
