MAME ver 0.145 updates
« on: April 26, 2012, 03:43:06 am »
Can someone please tell me how to apply the MAME updates for ver 0.145. I download a set of native Windows diff/patch tools, and went to where I thought the MAME source tree was (which I am assuming is the directory that MAME is installed into), and tried to apply the various patches. I used the command line, patch -p0 -E <diffname.diff, but nothing seemed to happen. I'm sure this is a simple task, but I just don't seem to get it.  :dunno

Patches must be applied to mame source, not binary.

Cheers for that. Yup Install the Source code version for windows. Downloaded all the updates and the windows diff/patch tool, used the command line, but nothing seemed to happen. Unzipped the patches and placed them in the root directory that Mame and the tool were installed into.

What does "nothing happen" mean? No output?
If so, the patches were correctly applied to the source code.

When I try to apply the updates using    "patch -p0 -E <diffname.diff ", when I run the patch application, nothing seems to happen. I hit enter and it drops down to the next command line, without any indication that anything has been installed. If that is what is meant to happen, then I have correctly applied all the updates.

Cool, cheers for that. Now all I have to do is figure out the other problem I am having with the controller mapping, but I may setup a new post for this, as I have it listed in the wrong area, as I thought it was a MaLa issue.
