Since emulators on Xbox cannot output true low resolution 15 kHz video (240p) and PS2 is too weak to handle anything at full speed, I am more and more inclined to getting Nintendo Wii just to run old school games. I am not interested in 3D stuff, just good old video games starting with Atari 2600 ending with Neo Geo, CPS-2.
Are there any people who use Wii and run the emulators on CRT TV or arcade monitor?
1. How well is the video output at 15 kHz generally? Is it close or identical to the original hardware? I plan to get a SCART RGB if I go for the Wii. That leads me to question: how about specific modes like Moon Patrol which runs at 55 (?) Hz?
2. I am specifically interested in ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 emulation. How good are the emulators for these systems? I did a quick search and it seems that ZX Spectrum should be OK but the C-64 is based on some old Frodo emulator and its video output is at least very weird with side borders missing!
3. How about wireless controllers? Is there any lag compared to wired controllers on Xbox/PS2? How comfortable is the wiimote? Can it be used with that nuntchuk to play 2 joystick games like Robotron?
4. I am a 15 kHz pixel purist. All I will accept it the perfect 15 kHz RGB video on a CRT screen, identical to the ouput of the original board. Let's say,Advance MAME is the norm for me. Does Nintendo Wii have any chance?
Thanks.
