I have no apps on it. In fact, I wish it was possible to ditch some of the pre-installed apps as well, as they poop-up everytime and harvest data for who knows what reason. My droid isn't even activated at google, so I don't know what the use of that data COULD be. There is no ads on it, it has no data-connection active, so why harvest for companies with ad-profiling information if a user does not consume ads and there is no chance the data gets out of the phone to the interested company in the first place.... Android is a weird thing.. The tie with Google makes it suck for at least 50% by design (ever saw the permission tab of any application: it is foolish!).
My droid phones, it texts, and it has a handy movie and stills cam. I tried it one month with apps, but especially emailing on the phone started to mess up my communication so bad, I did throw that off the first.
The most important thing when you buy an Android phone: BUY ONE THAT ROOTS EASILY. With my HTC Wildfire S-CRAP it doesn't, which makes the phone useless beyond being a dumbphone.
If it roots you can:
- Delete HTC nonSENSE if you have a HTC. The most bad phone UI ever created on top of Android. I wish I could replace it with Samsungs or Sony's.
- Delete ASSBOOK app (important!)
- Disable any permission for any app you like without harming functioning (it can send nonsense data like location timbuktu).
- Replace Android with one of the non-Google versions for ad-free smartphone life.
Guess I'm not made for 2012 gizmo's. Lets fire up that DK cabinet....
