Replace battery on Ipod Touch
« on: March 26, 2012, 03:28:53 pm »
Has anyone replaced the battery on an Ipod touch ever? I am thinking of trying it. I bought a used one from a friend (knowing the battery was not great). This guide makes it look fairly easy. Just curious if anyone has tried it and if there is anything to really watch out for.

I've done batteries on Classics. Just be careful when you put it back together. Everything's packed so tightly in there that once you disturb it, sometimes it's difficult putting everything back in just the right way.

Yeah, they don't show putting it back together. Kinda wish they did. I am guessing it just kind of snaps back together.

Apple sometimes offers a trade-in.  For $79 you get a refurbished iTouch with a new battery to replace yours.  Ask one of those Geniuses at the Apple Store about it.

I just replaced the screen on a 4th gen ipod touch.  It was an absolute ---smurfette--- to do.  Doing the battery is more difficult.  I know the previous generations are slightly easier with the digitizer and screen as separate pieces.

The worst part is that the entire thing is basically glued together.  Buy a kit with all the tools in it.
Check out my current 3 machine build:
