My art is always free for you to download and modify as you see fit...
Why?... because I could never find any art I loved on the net. So I played around with Photoshop and wish to share it with the arcade community.

Wow, really nice art!  I love the effects, and the subtle cat within the text.  The text is a bit difficult to read on first viewing, but maybe that's ok.

The name makes me think of a massive bank vault with lots of metal and a large spinning wheel for the combination.  Also since it is the games that time forgot, maybe some cobwebs?

It already looks awesome if you keep what you have. The font was a little hard for me at first too, but it immediately grew on me. The bank vault theme does spring out in my mind as well. Here are a couple images I found from a search that I thought looked cool and fit a bank vault theme.

I really like vault 3 [what's behind the door] >:D

Here's the start of what it 'could look like'. Took a while to get the components made so i haven't put much detail into it yet.
Now that i see it i may have to enlarge my CP and make a trackball overlay and have the two joystick overlays interacting with it.

Maybe some for of stargate hieroglyphs as a combination sequence.

I'm really liking the industrial look with the joy underlay there.  When I think of vaults I often think of muted industrial colors and depending on age even rust - like something that hasn't been opened in a really long time.  Maybe try for something more sinister than the hexagon background like bars, eye scanners, palm print readers, hinges, barrel locks.  Maybe mute everything and have the color spilling out from behind the vault door.  Just ideas to keep your wheels spinning.

Don't know if I'm sold on the font either.  Will have to stare some more  ;)

:applaud: :applaud: Great work as usual!

I've updated the original post with another idea to clean it up and rid the hex design. I'll see if i can create a metal vault with some hardware on it - maybe a little more on the alien futuristic style rather than a traditional vault. (i maybe some time before reposting ;D)

Just need some direction on trackball and 4 way joy placement (i've never used either)
I guess with a 60cm wide control panel there's not too many options...

I really want the 4way as i hate having to open the CP to adjust from 4way to 8way. (but i'm not fussed on the trackball (maybe a something i'll add later)

The art is far from finished but has some of the main components - then they will be interacting with each other (in time)

You're going to be hitting the right stick when you use the trackball from the looks of it if you're a righty but I think that you may have to deal with that.  I would use that layout.  You'd definitely hit the 4 way.  If you like to play golden tee of shuuz or shuffleshot, or... well you for sure don't want anything right above the trackball so I'd move it off to the side.  What am I saying?  I'd remove it completely, you can use a Magstik 2 for the switching but a lot of folks are temperamental about the throw.  You can use an OMNI2 with a servo and have it adjust automatically between 4way and 8way negating the need for that third stick.  That really looks amazing, and will still look great if you move that cluster above the trackball and center it over either set of buttons.

I like it!  Though I would try to make it a bit more vault-like.   ;)

Wow!  Looks really clean.  Love the font, too.  Actually I like both versions but the new one is sharper.  I agree that the CP could be more vault-like.

For my build I had a very similar layout (also cramped), but I used the Mag-Stik Plus for 4/8 way switching.  I also used a 2-button/row layout and kept everything as close to the left/right sides as possible to maximize the space between the trackball and right stick, and also put the joysticks a bit higher up than the trackball.  It's really hard to find enough clearance between those two.

OK the 'vault' part is going to be a big old stone vault - my idea is to have metal brackets and bracing looking like it going to 'crack' open this stone mammoth. With a very nice little suprise inside (dont know what it is yet - maybe some form of electronics)

The vault combination is going to be icons on the hex tiles (not too mortal combat looking?)

WoLLiEnZ your skills are amazing! Big fan of your work.

As for the last image, it does look a bit like the Mortal Kombat character wall. Not sure if you're sold on that idea but how about a half open door vault with maybe some of your favorite arcade machines or characters showing.
Open door like this....just a thought.
