MameWah game list question
« on: September 26, 2003, 08:07:48 am »
Hiya,

           Got Mamewah going and am loving it. Some quick questions though;

1. How do I make the game names show up instead of the romnames? eg "bubble bobble" not "bublbobl".

2. How do I get menu sounds to work? (Sorry, I'm not at my home computer and haven't had time to try yet) Do I extract the Minwah sounds and type in the full path along with their file names?

3. How do I make pics/snap show up in the screensaver? All I got was a blank screen.

BTW I'm using v90, I tried extraxting v96 over that but then MameWah would not open, I see other people had that problem so I'll have to try again. I don't remember seeing the layout folder though...

Thanks in advance.

1) Rename your roms using the good tools: http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/gtguide.htm#section2

No, don't do that.

Change your options for list creation to say ROM Folder vs. List Info (MAME only)

This will display the game name based on the ROM or Parent name the way that is's supposed to.

Leave your roms the default  romname.zip

RE: mamewah versions, you have to have 0.95x installed first and then extract 0.96 over that and re-unzip Layouts.zip

I don't believe you can go to 0.96 right from anything older than 0.95x

As far as snaps, I just have my snaps directory as artwork #1 and they default to the screen saver.

Can I suggest you go for the latest version - I think it will be worth it...

As grdprx says, you must install a later version than .90 first:

Download v0.954b, install it and then unzip the file LAYOUTS.ZIP using folder names.  Then download v0.96 and extract the contents over the version installed above.  There is even some documentation with the newest version ;)

Thanks heaps for the replies, it's all going great now, I've even made some layouts that have just the look I'm after. Top front end!
