Anyone run AAE on a machine with two joysticks?
« on: February 26, 2012, 01:12:43 am »
I've kinda been mulling over the idea of building a little Asteroids inspired bartop, so I mocked up a simple asteroids control panel using one of those Xin-mo gamepad controllers to hook up the buttons. After a little messing around I got my test rig running only to find that AAE crashes if I have two joysticks or gamepads hooked up into a machine. Tried a couple different combos and couple different machines (all running Win7 64bit) and I get the same result. Two joysticks = no AAE - and unfortunately for me, the Xin-mo shows up as two gamepad devices and I have a hard time playing a B&W vector on MAME after using AAE. I know AAE doesn't support joysticks at all, but joy2key does work with my single gamepad so that was where I was going.

Anyone run into similar problems? Ideas? I know AAE will likely cause me huge headaches due to the crashing, but it just looks so nice once you tweak it. I'd hate to have to give it up or buy another controller :(

Well, I figured out my "solution" and boy is it stupid: just disable the second controller in Device Manager. Not exactly an ideal solution, but it gets the job done for me for now.
