Mala Question
« on: February 25, 2012, 06:21:42 pm »
I installed the mame bios pack and Mala picks up all the bios from the pack as games.... how do I stop it from doing that?

Check out Romlister.  it is a separate program that will filter your rom list, including specifically the Bios files, and save as a MaLa Gamelist.  Author posts here sometimes under NOP.

Or you could set up MaLa Gamelist editor. This comes pre-packaged when you downloaded MaLa and is pretty straight forward to use.  If you have any questions on it come back and I can try to help you.

mala game list (comes with mala) doesn't filter that I know of.  you select games from the all games list manually, move them to another list, then save.

Mala Game List Editor a separate program, does filter.  Same small learning curve, same results as Romlister.

ROMLister looks intimidating but is pretty simple once you get started with it.

the hardest part about any of these filtering programs is getting a coordinated set of mame xml/catver.ini/controls.dat etc for your version of MAME.  from several different and changing sources.  Once you do that it's quite easy.

Watch out if you source any of the data files from european sources- the files wont work for you in italian - ask how I know!  They have english too.

If you go with romlister to make MaLa lists, make sure you're aware of the John Elway Team QB bug.  If you need any help I'll give it a whack and NOP (romlister author) posted here as recently as yesterday.
