AtomicFE Gamelist Problem
« on: February 20, 2012, 11:14:12 pm »
I have AtomicFE set up pretty much exactly how I want it with some layouts I made. I just made the switch over from MALA (not because MALA didn't do what I wanted it to, just looking for a change I guess). My problem is with the gamelists and fixed selection on my layouts. I have the layout set up with 7 games shown and the 4 game in the list is always the fixed selection. When I enter the gamelist I want it to be on the first game in the list, or remember the last game it was on, either way. However when I enter the gamelist it starts with it selected on the 4th game making me have to scroll up to the top. I was wondering if there was a setting to have it always be on the first game (i.e. have no games above the selection).

This only really causes an issue for me with how I have my Favorites list and Filter select layouts setup, because currently both of these only have about 5 things in them and when I enter the list the selection is sitting on nothing. It just has a blank line on the selection and I have to scroll up to get to the top game (which is the most played favorite game, NBA Jam). When I scroll back down it stops as it should. Not really sure if this is a bug or how it is supposed to be, but I was wondering if there was a setting I missed to always start at the very first game when using fixed selection.

If this makes no sense I can make a video of what I mean.

Thanks,
Patrick

Ok, I figured out the problem is that with fixed selection the list starts at the fixed selection location. So if I have a fixed selection at location 3 then the list will start on the 3rd game in the list. So this problem isn't a problem but the way it was designed. I guess what I am asking is if it is possible at all to make it so that it forces to start at the very first game in the list no matter what.

Hey there,

AFE remembers the last game/selection you selected - which is fine for most people, but i can see why you'd like to have it start at the top.

I'll have to take a look at my own AFE setup, I remember seeing something when I was creating some themes. Have you tried posting/searching this question on the AFE forums?

Be seeing you,

Wonderalex

Yea I read somewhere that Atomic remembers the last selection, my lists aren't doing that either, not sure why. I was going to post this over at those forums but I haven't received my activation email yet. Is there a setting I have to choose to get it to remember the last selection?

I've been using AFE now for 2 years (hardly an expert, but I'll try to help) and I remember having a similar issues with very short lists of games, I fixed it reducing the maximum number of titles being displayed at one. For example - if you've got a list of 10 titles, but your layout is set to display 50 in the selection window (that's the ListTxt layer in the editor), and your selector is set to position 25 you're risking having your selector start on a blank.  Reduce the maximum of titles displayed and you should be fine. You can also change your selection position (which I think will be the best solution for you) - edit the ListTxt properties of your layout - set your selection position to zero (0) or the top third of your list and your selector will always be at or near the top, not ideal but it will work and that should keep it from starting on a blank.

As to AFE not remembering your last play - that should be working - did you install the patch? Have you tried purging then rebuilding your lists (both functions are found on the Screen Options)? I find that it often clears up any list issues.

I also wanted to let you know that the English and the French (yes, I speak & read french) forums haven't been very active lately (I believe Youki's been busy being a dad) so you may not get an activation code quickly.

Havok, Youki and NoLogic are also on BYOAC - so hopefully they'll see this thread and offer a other, likely better, solutions.

I hope this helped.

Thanks a lot for the help. I will try purging the list and see if that helps. I think for now I might just stick with my MALA setup however I am still trying to work with AtomicFE also because I really do like the layout functionality of it and it seems to do some very cool stuff. I will try purging the lists sometime later today and see if that helps with the selection remembering.
