Homemade Dust Washer

Have any of you ever made your own dust washers? If so, what material did you use and what was your method?

I was thinking about using a 1/16 sheet of acrylic like this:

Then use a hole saw to cut the outside of the washer and a drill bit for the inside.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be great.

Those would definitely stand out on my Midway Pacman cocktail...

As I recall, Ond did something kind of similar.

Take some sheet plastic, cut a rough circle from it, then bolt it into a drill press centered and use sandpaper to get the edge clean and finish it out completely circular.

Finally, drill through the center with a 1/2 bit to open it up for the stick.

It'll be completely flat though.. While it's in the drill press you might exp with using a chisel or carving knife on it while it's spinning to etch out a ring or two on it to dress it up a little.

For all the guitar players out there...you could make them out of pickguard material. Available in many different styles including pearloid, sparkles, mirror, etc.

Note: This stuff is too thick to use under a metal panel, but it'll work fine for top mounting (over the panel). I s'pose if you have access to a mill or something similar you could shave down the underside to duplicate the thickness of a Wico (or similar) washer....

How thick is that guitar stuff and what is the usual thinkness of dustwashers?

The black plastic sheet I'm looking at purchasing is 1/16" thick.

The p-guard material is 2.5mm

Not sure, but you could hit him up for some information. Or you could probably just buy some off him if he's got any left. Not sure if he has clear though.

edit:  Also, if you really wanna pimp out your panels, you could go for a clear dust washer with an itched image in it:

I'm planning on doing this for some of my panels.

Those are sweet looking. When I read the title I thought about how cool it would be to have ryu on player one and ken on player 2 facing each other. When I saw the etched ones I thought for sure they would be priced at something stupid but at $3.75 that's definitely worth it. Not something I think I'd get for my cab being a bit of a minimalist when it comes to art and design but if I had the artwork to support it then those would be the cherry on top.
