Bought 2 games this weekend. NeoGeo and XmenvsSF conversions
« on: January 30, 2012, 12:00:34 am »
There was a big warehouse sale this weekend in Louisville and I came home with 2 cabs.  It was a great time.  There were a lot of machines and a few pins (I hesitated for 5 seconds after hearing the asking price for Taxi and someone else got it ).  I came home with a Xmen vs. Street Fighter and a NeoGeo 1 slot Samurai Showdown.

Needless to say, my acivity on this board has increased.   Both of mine are non working at the moment.  The XvSF doesn't even power on.  The NeoGeo is stuck at the green screen.   There are some cosmetic issues that I want to fix as well as I would like to put in new buttons.   When I open the back I realize that this is very different from my pc cab.   I've never worked around an open CRT and am a bit leary of what I can actually touch inside of the cab.  All these things I know are in the forum and I'll be searching as I go.

Both cabs have wood laminate on the sides.  The XvSF is a brown paint underneath.  A friend bought the exact same game and found the original Joust artwork on one and Dig Dug on another.   I pulled mine up in a place where the Joust artwork should be and didn't see anything other than brown paint and glue.    I'm scared to take off the laminate without having a good idea of what it is.  The NeoGeo is in great shape other than needing a board level fix.  There's only 1 spot where the laminate is pulling up and I can see white paint.   I've also found the Atari metal sticker on the back of the cab.   But I'd like to try to identify it before potentially increasing the size of my project.   The speaker grill is very unique.  Hopefully someone could help me identify them before I start pulling laminate off :D

Here's a summary of cab and what it needs.

Xmen vs. Street Fighter:
Doesn't power up
joystick & buttons need replaced
plastic CP protector need replaced
possible T molding

Backside

NeoGeo Samurai Showdown:
Green Screen - either bad trace or crystal needs to be replaced
???? - cab is in pretty good shape.

Neo Geo looks like an Agent X to me, I was thinking Joust for the XmenvsSF but there are a ton of cabs with very similar shapes

It's a Millipede cab. Agent X has a different speaker panel shape, similar to Crystal Castles.
WTB: The Grid by Midway (2001), looking for 2 or more complete games, and large marquee
