I somehow activated the song of heroes glitch, simply by visiting the desert to gather tumbleweed.  (Didn't talk to the Gorgon or anything.)

When I go to Eldin, all of the selections are still available... it isn't "flooded" like the forest was.  I downloaded the Channel from Nintendo that's supposed to fix the glitch but when I fly to Eldin it doesn't seem to have fixed anything.  Can anyone confirm that when you fly there all fo the statues are supposed to be grayed out?

Do any hacking sites have info on the corrupted saves?  Maybe I can fix it manually?

Thanks.

If you're at the section of the game where you have to find the dragons, you shouldn't be able to land at all the statues, but it should just automatically take you to a specific location when you try to drop into the Eldin location. It shouldn't even show you any statues.

Yup, that's what I thought.... well it IS showing me the statues.  I ran nintendo's utility... didn't fix it.  I dunno... maybe I can go to the desert and go ahead and get that dragon and try running their utility again.

Speaking of this section of the game . . . man, that flooded forest thing is the perfect example of what's wrong with this franchise. WTF? The existence of the world is at stake and the dragon spirits have you have to swimming around in a game of hide-and-seek with little musical note characters that look like they were borrowed from the set of Handy Manny. It's not even fun. It's like the product of some demented obsession with adding value in the form of arbitrarily making the game take longer to finish. It would be add just as much value if they just had a timer pop up on screen that said, "Go do something else for an hour," and started counting down. The game would take an hour longer to beat, but ANYTHING else you decided to do during that hour would be more fun that the nonsense minigame they came up with.

Fortunately the desert one, and especially the volcano one, are aren't so bad.

I don't think this is a franchsie problem, it's a Nintendo problem.  For some reason they think we LOVE water levels and try to wedge them in as much as possible.  In reality we HATE water levels and let out an audible groan whenever one pops up.  Actually this is almost exclusively a Miyamoto problem....  he's stated in several interviews how much he loves "bonus" levels like water levels, the boating in ww, ect.... He's pretty much got the run of the place so if he likes them then they ALL better like them.

I don't pay any attention to the dragon gods being ---Deutsche Frankfurters---.... in general all gods are ---Deutsche Frankfurters--- and aren't really concerned with the problems of mere mortals.  I'm talking about cinema and literature of course... no need to get this thread transferred to P&R.  ;)

I think considering how much upgrading your gear is pressed upon you in this game they could have stretched out the game a little more be requiring you to upgrade your major stuff (bow, shield, maybe something else).  At least then there would have been a point, both to upgrading your gear and for having to beg entrance to the last fight.

Ok I got it sorted out thankfully.

In case anyone else runs across this......

Nintendo's bug fix doesn't work until you've finished the desert dragon stage, so If you get stuck like I did, just go do that one first.

It seems odd how broken their "fix" is, but at least I'm playing again.... oh well.

glad it's fixed, i was reading through and was going to suggest you try breaking the game some more by talking to the guy to glitch some more.. it sounds like you started the glitch by visiting the desert which got the ball rolling, only you didn't talk to the guy... so it hadn't passed the point where the "FIX" would fix it.

Ignore pbj... we're getting him tested.

When you get to the part of the game where it asks you to retrieve the three parts to the "song of the hero" do NOT go into the desert until last.

Go to the forest, then the volcano and then the desert.... in that order.  After you have all three parts you can play normally and likewise until you get to that part in the game (which is almost at the end) you can play normally as well.
