Vectorizing Artwork
« on: January 27, 2012, 12:25:42 am »
Hello all, I'm new to this site but have been following some threads about artwork.

I'm taking a stab at vectorizing some pinball artwork, and have been cutting my teeth on playfield insert decals for starters.  Looking for some advice, assistance, critiques of my work so far.  Since I don;t own these games I'm having issues with determining the correct scale.

I'm attaching some playfield insert decals for F-14 Tomcat for starters - hopefully I won't get sued.

Let me know what you think - any comments are appreciated!

When I zoom in I can totally tell you radiuses aren't tangent... but i'm a picky ---uvula--- too. The points on the arrows arent perfectly round, they have a "kink" in the tip, that's the best word to describe it I guess. Just my two cents.

It's all stuff that won't really be noticeable unless you are looking for it, for the most part it is really good. When I zoom in I notice tiny issues. With the radar target, the little tic marks are slightly crooked.

And I know those kinks can be a pain ironing out if you are not a pro. I wish I was better at illustrator to give good advice on how to fix it. I just always end up spending a looooong time adjusting the angles.

Yeah, Illustrator can be a real PITA, I use SolidWorks to draw alot of my basic shapes and lines, cause I can dimension everything individually so I know its right. Then I save it out as an ai file and do my work in Illustrator.

With the radar tics, if you hold down shift while drawing the line, it should lock it to a straight line.
