« on: January 19, 2012, 11:24:02 am »
I have a Sony Model: KDL40EX401 lcd tv about 1 yr and half old that does not power on.
When hit the power button it doesn't click on and the indicator light are off,no sound no picture,NADA.I took the power supply board to a tv repair shop and was told that it was ok.He wanted me to take the tv to him but i wanted to know if someone here had a similar problem with an lcd tv or had a fix.THANKS

most larger lcd/plasma tv's have a standby power that is always on. usually 5 volts. (often labeled "5SB" or "5VS") it powers the electronics while the set is off. (you know... remote control, tv settings, etc.)

if the shop tested the supply properly (doubtful)  then there maybe something bad with the main board. (not likely but not unheard of)

but, it could be that the power supply standby voltage is no good (often a bad cap) since the supply runs 24/7 regardless if the set is on or off.
