powerstrip and 25khz monitor. Can't figure this one out.
« on: January 13, 2012, 01:49:20 am »
I have set the advanced timing in powerstrip software to 25khz and save the profile.  I have saved the same settings as startup and shutdown and default.  Everything is perfect for the Nanio 25khz monitor-hyperspin, mame, model 2, pc games, windows, all run great and clear.  The problem is that when i restart the computer the monitor cant read signal.  The only way i can get back on arcade monitor is to start computer with a vga monitor first and wait for powerstrip to start, it then goes out of range automatically and then I can plug in arcade monitor and it works.  Why is it doing this? any ideas?

windows xp running rad HD 5450 with drivers updated.  I tried to make it easy and use soft 15khz but it only changed settings to low color 8bit and did not change to 25khz refresh rate.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but it's because the 5xxx series card. I had the exact same problem last month. The solution? Had to get a new card. I spent hours messing around with that thing trying to get it to work. Took it back got a 3450 card that I knew worked in my last cabinet and I was up running in 5 minutes of installing it.

weird.  So it will work when you plug in vga monitor and then switch to arcade monitor once it loads up.  It does work perfectly, just will not load up on restart.  There has to be some work around.

Yes the exact same problem... I mentioned it last month in my driving cab thread. You could try getting a dongle to trick it into thinking that a standard monitor is hooked up, but I have no proof that works, just an idea I saw tossed around. If you search around on google you will find other people had the same problem and from what i could find there was no solution. For me 5 or 6 hours of trouble shooting was enough and I simply got a new card. In my case it was less powerful....but it works. No hassle, 5 minute setup the way it should be.

yeah, so I changed the monitor to 15khz and put in the ati x1300 with a vga amplifier cable and running soft15khz.  Works like a charm now.  Really wanted that more powerful video card but I guess beggers can't be choosers.
