Mitsubishi XC-2930C questions

I was lucky enough to buy one of these a few years. I can't seem to get the RGB 2 to work. I've been using the 5-BNC inputs (RGB 1) to my PC VGA card - works great. I've tried 3 different DE-15F to DA-15 adapters with absolutely nothing on RGB 2. There could be and internal problem, I bought it used, but everything else on it works so I think I don't have the right adapter. I could make my own if I had the pinout for the XC-2930C.

Also, is anyone using the XC-2930C with Soft15k or ArcadeVGA with good results?

Is there a specific reason you want to use the second RGB port?  You can use Soft 15khz and the arcadeVGA card over the BNC connectors just fine.

Thanks, Jack. I was asking two separate questions. The second RGB port would be for a second input like an XBOX. Right now I have to use an VGA switch when changing back and forth... I didn't think the BNC input would affect soft 15khz.

Speaking of that - I have tried to get soft 15khz to work a couple times with no luck. I'm usually good at that stuff, but no-go so I'd move on to other projects. The hhread on using it has become so big I get a bit lost searching this forum. I wouldn't mind a quick step by step... Current set up is:

Pentium 4 2.8 ghz
Windows XP SP3
ATI Radeon 9600 AGP

I tried a few more things - re-installed ati drivers, re-installed soft15khz. I actually got it to work this time. The windows screen was flickering. I searched and found out it was switching to interlace, so I installed quick rez and used that to change the desktop resolution - fixed the flickering. I can see huge potential getting this to work, I'll spend some more time with it.

I think there be an issue with the monitor though:

I have to set the horizontal width to max using the monitor settings to get the picture to fill the screen - its been this way since I bought it. That still leaves a 1/2 inch black boarder on each side of the screen for most resolutions. Then I always have to move the H-position way to the left -sometimes it won't go all the way leaving the picture slightly off center. Before I spend too much time on the soft15khz - could this indicate a problem??

Another question is am I kidding myself I can get soft15khz working with Mameui32 v. 0.144

The h-width and h-pos thing is not unusual.  On several monitors I've own the screen size and position had to be changed significantly when switching to 240 line resolutions.  

If you want the screen to be completely filled you may need to use a custom resolution with different front and back porch settings.  You can try this modeline with soft15khz.  

Create a text file in the soft15khz directory called custom15khz.txt, then add this line:

modeline '384x224' 7,812 384 416 472 496 224 238 239 264 -hsync -vsync

then save it and choose the "install 15khz" option in soft15khz.  

This is a modeline that I created specifically for my AM-3501R monitor that had the same issue yours had.  See how well it works.

Thanks again. Unfortunately I think the motherboard is out on the Arcade's PC.  ~10 year old P4 finally gave out. Already ordered a Pentium D 945 off ebay. I'll try that custom modeline when I get the new rig set up. Once I install that modeline, do I test it with quickrez, then use it for which? games.?

The modeline is specific to CPS1 and 2 games like Street Fighter II and Final Fight.

What about my Windows setting? Even 800x600 or 640x480 have to be stretched to the max and still don't quite fit the screen.

Well, this is just testing that your display actually CAN display in full screen. 

Have you hooked a console up to the s-video or composite input?  Do you get full screen with those?

I have tested on the composite input. It will go full screen, but I still have to set the h-width close to max to get to the edges. With composite the picture was centered without any h-phase adjustment....
