No image from chassis after changing faulty transistor?

Hi again!

I know I've spent a lot of time on this noname chassis, but I want to get
a feel for fixing these. I hope it's ok I ask you a question(which I hope
is general)

I had the vertical collapse, which I managed to fix(thanks to the advice from you guys)
However, the pictures is wobbling like crazy. Turns out the D1431 transistor
is shorted, which seemed to 'override' the 160ohm cement resistor nearby.

So, I get a new D1431 and install it , and then there's no picture at all!!  

My thought is that the component making the D1431 turn on is bad, since
the broken D1431 had gone open. Wouldn't this make sense? With the bad one,
there's image, but 'oversteering', the new one doesn't get turned on = no image

There IS neck glow, and I can discharge the monitor afterwards!

But what component could this be?

sounds possible.

likely the part up stream from the D1431 is faulty, since the D1431 is shorted, it's effectively operating the rest of the circuit. Placing a working transistor in there results in a "broken" circuit since it's waiting to be turned on. so yeah, it sounds plausible.

Ok, so I'm not completely off base.

Could this be a cap I wonder?

Also, on the chassis I have these large brown caps, with no value
on them. Could they have something to do with it? Also,
you can see the 1432 to the right/up:
