Hey everyone, I finally tracked down a showcase cabinet(for my mame pc setup) that is in good condition 5 hours away at an arcade......unfortunately, I wasn't able to go see it in person but my girlfriend did. She said it is in good condition except for the monitor. I am a complete newb for the most part when it comes to troubleshooting issues with arcade monitors. I am comfortable soldering caps and what not on boards no problem, just never had to on a bigger monitor.
It is a Soul Calibur 2 cabinet with the 38-39" monitor.
One problem is there is a think horizontal line going across the screen that travels upwards and then restarts at the bottom and then back up.
The next problem is the colors don't seem to be as bright as the other smaller 33" screens Soul Calibur screens.
What do you experts think this problem may be? Bad caps or something else??? The guy she talked to at the arcade was young for the most part and said they have tried to fix it before but wasn't sure what they did. He definitely didn't say anything about caps. He didn't know if it was a monitor or board issue. Also, the guy mentioned something about the game/screen freezing up?
Is this monitor worth fixing or is it a waste of money? I still want the cab however.....just kind of hoping I can get a monitor as well with it and not have to use my spare 32" LED tv.
Any input or advice is appreciated....thanks!!
