TV in cab: shell or no shell??
« on: September 18, 2003, 09:10:48 am »
for those of you who are using tv's as your monitor in your cab, i was wondering what the majority of you were doing - keeping the tv in its shell or taking it out? is it safe to mount a tv in a cab without a shell? anyone have any examples? tia..

Its safe to mount a tv without a shell as long as the tv remains grounded--the reason I left it in a shell though was that I would then have to build some kind of mount for the tube and chassis, whereas the tv shell already has built in mounts that aren't that much bigger than one I would build myself.  Keeps all the components tucked away nicely.
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

I kept mine in the shell.  The main reason I did this is becuase I may eventually take it out and use it as a TV.  I think a bezel would fit a little bit better if you took it out of the shell.  My 27" bezel from Happ has less than a quarter inch between the bezel and the tv, but it blends very well.

Check out my website in the sig for pictures.

Left my TV in the shell, I may one day want to use it as a TV again.  Its much easier to handle and less work while its in the shell.
