completed - donkey kong (radar scope) bartop
« on: November 29, 2011, 05:56:09 pm »
Hey byoac,

I very rarely post here but I do surf the build threads almost every night. I have seen a lot of great builds! I thought it was about time I posted my current build, a donkey kong themed bartop based on a radar scope cabinet. I have no construction pics but I do have a video. I promise to make a build thread of my next project.

Kind regards, Dave

Awesome...  Second only to LeedsFan's bartop Donkey Kong...    ;)  Only thing I would change is I would run the t-molding all the way down the back since it is visible..  Also I'd probably go with a 60-in-1 so as not to need as many vent holes in the back!

Leeds Fan's is amazing, thats where i got the initial idea from  ;D very true about the t-molding, i ran it under the machine but not the back, i can't think why i did that since i had a good 10ft of the stuff left  :banghead: very true about the fan holes, i used speedfan to control them so they only turn at 15% power so very quiet indeed, i could of got away with just one but the router cutting bit is addictive and i could not stop cutting holes  :laugh2:

These mini Donkey Kongs have inspired me to do one as well.. If mine comes out half as good as yours I'd be happy!

hey unstupid, im sure your build will be great! take time to plan and build a rough model out of card, i went full scale and found many a problem with internal dimensions which would of ruined the project if i had made from mdf stright away. best of luck

This is great. I am about 1/2 finished an identical build. I am using a 60-in-1 and planning to build a few for sale locally.

Hey overRide, i loved your bubble bobble machine, so much so i made one almost the same as yours. i will post a pic shortly. these mini cabs are cool, i enjoy the building experience they give; almost more so than the playing of the games  :dizzy:

Thanks Bluemini, Can't wait to see it!
Yeah, I love the planning/building process a lot. For that reason I was sure to never build an all-in-one cab...  :D

lol very true, if an all in 1 were to be built then achieving swimbo approval for another build would be tricky to say the least
