Winuaeloader and SPS mode
« on: November 08, 2011, 07:12:13 pm »
Hello everyone, I'm trying to get a game working in SPS mode and seems like everything works except for disk swapping in winuaeloader.
The game came in a .zip with 4 .ipf files, one for each disk image. First thing I left everything in the zip and edited the sps.xml file to match the name with the zip file but when testing it loads the first file (which is only an intro disk and I can't play). So next step was to create a zip for each image and edit the xml to load disk2 which is the game. Testing around I saw that disk swapping doesn't work. Tried also extracting the .ipf files and pointing the .xml to ipf and not zip but doesn't work either.
I couldn't find no guide about sps mode in winuaeloader and I know that it's easier using WHD mode or GameBase mode but in WHD the game's sound is broken and in gamebase mode parts of the game are missing. SPS doesn't have these issues so any help is welcomed.
Thanks in advance...

which game do you talk about? I guess the reason could been the game does not support other than DF0: drive and then discswap dont work? And also some intro disc is separated and not ask for the next disc when its is finished?

In both cases there need some manual swap, which might not been supported by the loader. I guess its could been do the job by two keys (one to shift the disc in left order, and other with right order, which can make sence with games with more than 2 discs).

Howover here its property better to use the WHDloader, not the gamebase loader. Here its allready installed on a harddrive and then there is no such of diskswap issues.

The game is "Entity" from Loriciel (the one with the blonde running around in aluminium foil). The game has 4 disks, actually 3 since the first disk is intro-only...

I have the WHDload version (Entity_v1.2_NoIntro_1735) but the sound tears a lot. I've partially fixed it putting cycle-exact and blitter-exact set to 'true' but it still tears every few seconds...

The gamebase version has a trainer but the first boss fight is missing, I have the 3 pieces of the rod but the game takes me directly to the next stage...not using trainer doesn't change anything.

The SPS version doesn't have these issues but I don't know how to set it up for diskswapping to work, if it's even possible. If anyone uses SPS mode and can guide me a bit through this...

or some help with the sound in WHD mode would be great too.
btw i'm using win7 (compatible with xp mode doesn't help either)
