painting 25" monitor glass tips
« on: October 30, 2011, 10:45:49 pm »
I am building my co-worker a mame from an un-restorable MK1 cabinet. I bought the cabinet and I need to make a bezel for the Asus 23" LCD he selected to put against my arcade monitor recommendation. So I know others on this site have painted the glass to create a bezel. I am looking for tips on how to do it properly and what type of paint to use. I'd like to do it 1 time and do it right, i don't want to see the paint brush lines and have it look like a 3 year old kid did it. I was also thinking of window tint ?
Here is the cabinet:

For my mame cabinet, I also painted the tempered glass much like a pinball backglass.

Mask off the center of the glass for the monitor to be viewed through, spray paint 1-2 coats of paint(I use Krylon "industrial" Tough Coat series). Wait at lest a day, then spray a silver paint layer on top of the color to prevent light from passing through.
