Model 2 emulator help
« on: October 18, 2011, 05:55:49 pm »
Im just trying to get Daytona USA running for now. I can get the game running but my issue is with controls. I cant configure steering, gas, or brake. I edited the INI to allow 360 devices and plugged in my 360 controller into my PC, but that just crashes the emulator.

I really just wanna get a mouse working for the steering wheel, so I can test the games and get them running before I put this PC inside the cab. Once I get this set up, I'll have the same questions about getting model 3 running (and MAME) lol

I know to start the emulator, load the rom, then pick configure controls, but NOTHING SHOWS UP for steering, gas, or brake. ALso, anytime I pick "unload rom" the emulator crashes.

Im rocking an AMD X2 64 4200+ (2 cores @ 2.21GHz) 4 GB of DR2-800 Ram and a Nvidia GeForce 9800GT

I don't think it's possible to use a mouse for steering in Model 2 without some other program to make it appear as an analogue joystick.  :-\
(It would be nice to be proven wrong)

check out the tools mentioned in bkenobi's thread here:
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=92363.0
(The end result is that the mouse is seen as an analogue joystick by mame, which is what you want to happen for M2.

Might want to shoot him a PM and see if he's running Model 2 on his setup.
I'm sure he's at least tried it.
(he was working out solutions for the driving stuff before I'd even heard of MAME)

I cant read spanish very well, and the guy doesnt explain how he got it to work and I cant find anything in the model 2 forums, of which most posts are in spanish :(

He's on the Supermodel boards.  New members can't post right away.  I'll PM him for you.
Looks like someone else mentioned PPJoy, but it's not clear whether he's using it or not.

Not sure what is going on with his registration for this site, but he PMed me this to copy and paste here (he's using ppjoy)

hello paste its contents in the forum :D

to use the mouse as a steering wheel

1) install the typical setup and close http://www.mediafire.com/?hw1b38wxwf0azst
2) go to control panel and we will have an icon for more

3) to give 2 Parallel Port Joystick click, it will be something like

luegto give the button "add ..

4) then put contrloller 1 and add ..

5) go to C: \ Program Files (or Program Files) \ Parallel Port Joystick

6) to give 2 click PPjoyMouse sencibilidad and put 15 of the axis "x" minimize the placard

7) open the emulator after the game and go to "configure game controls ..

continue in the emu config tick the steering and give 2 click

has to be so

(NO MATTER THE CALIBRATION AND VALANCE)
8) accept all and we must have the ppjoymouse (minimized) to have the game
I hope you understand alla

nuexzz..
