Well, I just registered for this site in hope of finding some help with my project. A friend of mine who knows about electronics and has lots of soldering experience is helping me.
I am trying to convert a Gamestop BB-070 into an arcade stick for the Xbox 360 using the Wii Tatsunoko Arcade Stick. My plan is simple, put the PCB of the controller inside the Arcade Stick... no dual mods, no turbo function, no fancy stuff. So far my friend has been able to correctly solder the X, A, Y, B, LB, and RB buttons into their respective buttons. We have yet to solder the Left and Right triggers (LT & RT); my friend is having little difficulty with them, and although he says it's just a matter of time, a little help would be nice

.
The real problem though is trying to map the D-Pad into the Arcade Stick. After a few hours of trying, my friend can only properly map 3 directions: LEFT, RIGHT, and DOWN. When he does so, if we press up on the Arcade Stick, it goes down; and down still goes down. He never has any problems with LEFT and RIGHT but he can never get UP and DOWN to work properly, one of them has to always be wrong.
Does anyone know how to properly solder the D-Pad? He says he plugged the common from the Arcade Stick into the RIGHT side of the D-Pad... whatever the case, the problem seems to be that he doesn't know where to solder the COMMON CABLE coming out of the Arcade Stick. He tried using bridges and stuff. What should we do?
I will attach a diagram that I found online -- the only one I could find for this controller -- but he says he wouldn't know if it is right or not. Also attached are some pictures I took. Please note that nothing is solder into the UP direction in the D-Pad... but that's the problem though, soldering something on it causes it to press UP on the Stick and actually go DOWN in the game.
