Monitor ID/Wei-Ya Chassis Replacement (WG-K7000)
« on: October 16, 2011, 10:20:44 pm »
Picked up an empty TMNT for $5 which I'm in the process of converting to MAME!

The chassis was busted to hell, so my project for this week is getting a new one installed:

1) I think I correctly identified the monitor as a WG K7000. (It has a Zenith tube) Could someone confirm? (If it makes a difference)

2) Forum member Windmill was kind enough to ship me a spare slightly-defective wei-ya chassis. I replaced the Horizontal Output Transistor as he described in this thread: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=111904.0

3) I think I have interpreted the connections from chassis to tube correctly, could someone confirm?

This is the old chassis which I believe to be a WG k7000:

The replacement Wei-Ya labeled to the best of my ability:

I think this is the degauss cable which is connected to #1 on the Wei-ya? :

This yoke plug is connected to #3 on the Wei-Ya ?

This wire is flat and wraps around the length of the picture tube. Is this for grounding?

4) How would one go about making a vga breakout cable for a wei-ya chassis? (As I understand, the wei-ya connectors are slightly different from the conventional connectors found on ultimarc and others breakout cables)

I'm sure I've made a mistake somewhere, so let me know where I'm going wrong!

Thanks for any and all help!

Keegan

Looks like your original chassis was a K7000A.

Your Wei-ya chassis will need to be "Americanized" as per my thread:

Ken, if I'm hooking this up to MAME via a VGA breakout is it entirely necessary to replace the video/sync connector? Is there some way to splice a VGA to be accepted by the current connector?
