Finaly Got My First Build Under Way (updated) :)
« on: October 06, 2011, 07:41:38 pm »
Well, after joining the forum and reading a lot, then posting my ideas, I finally got my cabinet underway.  Attached are a few pics of my progress so far.  Its closely based off of the PacMan cabinet plan, probably off measurements in some areas and I also made the top flat.

Using a 17" Monitor for now, hope to upgrade in the future.   Still have a lot of work to go but wanted to post what I had so far.  Also after long thoughts, I finally made the decision to go with a one player setup, as you can see vertical monitor, that will be the majority of the games, if I want a horizontal, well that will just have to be small.  :P  The one other thing that I am contemplating is having both a dedicated 8 way and 4 way joystick since i am going one player control panel.

Let me know what you think..

OK, I have made some more progress, will try to get some updated pics later, so far I have the speakers installed, the cab painted, the coin door installed, artwork on side installed, and the marquee installed.

Now looking for some help and input on the CP.  I first was thinking I would go with a 2 player setup, but now I think one will be fine since all the games will have the players swapping on and off.  Can some one help me design a CP that will accommodate 2 player selection buttons, 2 admin buttons (Pause and Escape), 3 buttons for jump, fire etc, and a joystick or two.  I was thinking an 4/8 way combo but since i will have room, now thinking maybe a dedicated 4 way and a dedicated 8 way, or should I just stick with on switchable joy?

The CP Dimensions I have to work within are 23" x 6.75"

Thanks in advance for the help.

The layout for me seems well enough, but I'm not sure about the Artwork - it's a bit noisy. I would have sticked to one theme. If this were up to me, I would've done a donkey kong theme all over. That looks much nicer, especially when you are making a replica of the cabinet.

But that's just my opinion  :D
