perspex help
« on: September 29, 2011, 01:42:22 am »
Hi

I've got a problem, wanted to sort out my perspex infront of my screen, the screen pushed against the perspex, wanted to take the perspex off yesterday to see if i can't stop the screen somehow pushing against the perspex and making it bend.

In the process of unscrewing the perspex and taking it off it crack in the one corner and broke off.

I'm thinking of getting some help to cut the perspex to my cp size and reusing it for my cpanel and another peace for my marque so the broken perspex doesn't go to waste.

So what i want to ask is two things.

How do you guys think can i sort the problem out of the screen pushing against the perspex?

And

What's the best way to cut the perspex to my cp size?

Will post pics just now.

cut yourself a couple of strips of wood...maybe 1/4 inch thick. mount them around the outside of your monitor. then drill and mount your plastic to that. it will allow the plastic to stand out a bit and hopefully clear the monitor and keep it from bowing out.

also be sure to use screws that have a large flat profile on them not cone sheaped (like drywall screws), or use washers... it will keep the plastic from getting stressed where it's screwed down and keep from breaking on you again. the cone actually pushes the plastic apart in the hole.

I got new perspex on Friday, for marquee, screen, and my cpanel.

The place that i bought it from cut all my peaces to big, i think the guy that cut it was on something.
Will get the peaces cut to size this week, and I'll ask a friend to help with the holes for my buttons, as he has worked in a place where they cut perspex and make signs for companies.

I wanted to do marquee back light but the way i built my cabinet is gana be pritty impossible to do it, so i have to settle not going for a back light, but i already got another idea what to do with the marquee to still have it look nice

And with the screen isue that i'm having, well, still got to cut spacers...
