i bought my daughter a marvel super heroes vs sf yesterday , she played it for 7 hours straight . this morning she turned it on to play and it blew the fuse for monitor . i put 3 more fuses in trying to track down problem . i think it need new cap kit , fly pan and maybe other stuff .
i was going to mame this for her any way so im thinking about just putting in a lcd pc monitor . what size would fit and look good ?
or should i just rebuild the one i have

Check the horizontal output transistor. Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to do a cap kit and change the flyback if the one you have is original. If the flyback blew open, it also likely took out the HOT.

c50 cap is melted , doing cap kit , flyback  , hot and voltage regulator

with the age of the monitor,and the fact part's are getting scrace,i would drop in a lcd,most are plug and play,look in our fourm's for

The only parts that are generally scarce as new for these common monitors are new CRTs, and you can usually find a TV to rip one out of if you want to.  The flybacks can get a little hard to find for some models, but you're usually still OK.  Definitely worth fixing these things even if you just want to sell it and drop an LCD in.

tube's/youke's and fly-back's are getting harder and harder to get by the day
un-less u q-bert are like me and :stock: ?,
what i was putting foward was a cheaper and drop-in-plug-and play alternitve.
some ppl just want that!!! some want to repair these thing's which is fine by me
as i do it every day,make a good living from it to i will add
but if u look at the wg site u will find no part's expect for a few scant cap kit's
yoke's/fly-back's/pix-tube's nota nota
there is only 1 mfg of tube's >crt's< now and they are in asia and there junk
5yr's max if that and the hit miss ratio is over 50% go fiq
so to the point lcd's are a plug and play fix

I sent an email via the form on Rick's website today. Waiting to hear back about where might have the 24.8" tri-mode. I really wish someone made a 25" 4:3 ratio LCD as that would be much easier to work with in terms of weight, bulk, etc. I'm looking to put a monitor into a Pit Fighter cabinet that I'm converting to MAME.

As a side note I'm looking at this 16:10 IPS panel LCD monitor if I can't find an appropriate CRT or if cost+shipping is prohibitive. Assuming the full 24.8" of the CRT is usable you lose 2.2" of height and 27" total screen area viewing 4:3 content so it is a significant hit to screen real estate. With 16:9 you lose even more.

Pricing is $399 right now, but there's a 20% coupon if you google. I hear that you can get these for under $300 sometimes and they tend to ship free.

yes i met with him last week
and he did confirm they are nla
he dose have a lcd drop in,and if i rem right they are doing a trimode
but he never told me for that size

For the widescreen LCD Rick was offering you need a 25.25" width minimum according to his reply. I think my cab is right around 24" wide inside so I don't think his LCD will work for me. Perhaps he has others or perhaps someone else has a smaller one. Nobody so far as I know makes a 4:3 LCD that big.

I'm not sure any LCD panel maker (and there are surprisingly few) has ever made a 4:3 panel larger than 21" diagonal.  I've certainly never seen conventional consumer-market products bigger than that.

There were some 4:3 plasma display panels (PDPs) made, but the smallest I know if is 32", and those haven't been made in years.  I'd expect any you'd find second hand at this point would be in pretty bad shape given the tendency of those early plasmas to burn.

I don't think ANY manufacturer is still making new CRTs.  Chung-hwa picture tubes held out for a while after the others stopped, but I think even they've stopped now.  Basically, anybody who still has new CRT monitors in stock is selling new old stock.

and there running in short supply...very-short-supply...
and yes if it will fit into a golden tee golf cab he has done a lcd make over it
think the cost was a tad high 500.00,but hey it is a lcd
i have personally seen 4 of his make over's in cambridge
as i deal with him on part's for his chassic's and it's a short 45min drive for me

i replaced the flyback ( it had a crack ) , i did a cap kit and went and bought few caps that were not in kit ( most old caps were buldged or leaking , replaced hot , replaced voltage reg . plugged  monitor back in and blew a fuse  so now what ?

ie need's an isolation transformer in line with it's ac input
with out it and hooking it up to a video source will indeed blow the main ac fuse of the monitor.? if indeed that is the 1 that blew
easy chk is to un-hook all sources to it expect ac and try it again
if it light's up then isolate it and hook video to it

what is out put of isolatin trans former ? is it a 120 / 120 ? i am running isolation transformer but not sure its good , so i just need to unplug video in and see if i blow fuse ?

im getting 130 volts out of isolation transformer and 130 volts ac at main fuse on monitor board

there is no load
do i expect atleast 120volt
isolation transformer is as follows
1 side is what we call hot >a/c main's<
the other side is what we call cold >isolated a/c<
in short a set of coil's that deliever equal voltage
but a sperate in the same case
