OK, I'd love to hire someone to create a marquee for me but funds are tight right now so I'm seeing if anyone out there wants to put something together for me on the cheap. I have a $25 gift card to GameStop I will offer up if I end up using the design - maybe that will be enough to get the ball rolling?
Anyway, this should be fairly easy (famous last words) because I sort of have the image worked out already. Here is my initial design with the dimensions:

The gray bars on the top and bottom will be covered by the brackets holding the marquee in place so any art there won't be visible, however I need to make the marquee file that big for when it is printed so the brackets will be have something to secure to.
I am (obviously) thinking about a very generic theme - something like "Arcade Classics" or something similarly boring but I do want it to look nice and integrated into the overall look of the cabinet and not like clip-art slapped together. The cab is plain woodgrain with a polyurethane clear coat with black t-molding and black controls - the marquee will be the only area that will have color.
As for the background, I was thinking of something along the lines of this (doesn't have to be exactly this):

I am planning to rotate the monitor and I think a gears or maybe some sort of steampunk design will go nicely with the woodgrain and the fact that the monitor will rotate. A little more color might be nice (maybe in the font?) I guess but nothing too loud. I was also thinking of adding "One Credit = 25¢" along the bottom or something along those lines. I don't know... The look I'm going for is something old western (yuck) but a little more cartoony? Does that make sense?
The "Arcade" font is "rio grande" and the "Classics" font is "Carnevalee Freakshow" both from dafont.com. If anyone out there is bored and wants to mess around with the design feel free.
