Wells Gardner K4600 line shift in screen - HELP Pleeeeaase

Hey guys. I am new to the Arcade Machine collecting hobby and I have a slight problem with my Wells Gardner K4675 / K4600 series 19" monitor. It has a couple of lines on the very left edge (considered top of monitor since its mounted vertically in my Frogger cabinet). I have attached a pic of the problem. It looks like basically there is a couple of lines on the very left edge that are not oriented correctly and they are deviated into the picture a little, and it leaves a black line where the line is missing. I have spun all the adjustment knobs and it doesnt help. Screen control doesnt fix it...

Background: I had some color problems and hourglassing along with this line problem so I did a "Cap Kit" on the monitor and reflowed any suspect solder joints. This fixed all the hourglassing and color problems but didnt fix this line error. Another thing that is weird is that the image is shifted left a bit even after I moved the vertical raster position jumper. It seems that the image cant get quite to the center of the screen. Another thing to mention is that the cap kit had about 20 capacitors, but it didnt include C201, C202, and C315. There is a jumper across C315.

Looks like a retrace line to me. Could be that yer tube is weak and you need to have the screen control too high to get an acceptable image. The color looks washed out on the pix you posted. Does bringing the screen control down get rid of the line?

That foldover problem is probably originating in your gameboard. Some of those 60 in 1 boards had that problem.

Can you try a different JAMMA board?

Agreed. Any of them multi boards I have played with can be a bit finicky to adjust on certain monitors. I usually shrink the image (vertical height and width) and start from there. Don't expect to get an image that will stretch from edge to edge (fill the screen) perfectly, you may have to just find a good compromise.

Colors on the screen are mint and screen control is not the problem, although it does look like that problem a little. That picture I posted (60 in 1 select screen) only has gray and dark dull red so it doesnt show colors.

Hmmm, come to think of it my Meta Fox Jamma board(came with my cabinet) doesnt seem to have the same problem. Could it be the capacitor jumper on C315? I read somewhere that some boards require that jumper and some dont. I think im gonna try to get a new 60 in 1 because its less than a month old and it says it has a 3 month warranty.

Also, if i screw with the vertical size and hold adjustment knobs the deviated lines move around but dont ever quite go away. This is why I thought it was the monitor. What if I adjust the voltage slightly to the 60 in 1. Maybe it will change the sync signal to the monitor and fix it?

I have had cases with games before where I will have a little noise on the screen and it clears up after setting the board voltage to a solid 5.1 v or so. I'm not sure if thats what you have here though.

It ended up being a loose connection or cold solder joint on the monitor chassis because i took it all apart again, reflowed ALL the solder joints, and cleaned the connections and tightened them. now its fine. Still not absolutely perfect, but just about. no more line coming over the picture.

While resoldering, I assume you also resolded the connections for the daughterboard plugs. Those always need it.
