Red Dog
« on: August 16, 2011, 07:16:46 am »
Saw this a couple of weeks ago, only just now thought to report on it! Stars Josh Lucas (A beautiful Mind, American Psycho) and Noah Taylor (Shine, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider). If you haven't heard about this movie, it's about the legend of Red Dog, a wandering dog who made a lot of friends in the Australian Outback. While it's true there is a legend, naturally a lot of artistic licence was had with the story. And that's fine with me. Dunno about the likelihood of it getting an overseas release, but if you notice it on cable or something and you love animals and dogs in particular you should check this out. I got a bit of dust in my eye or something. The battle between Red Dog and Red Cat is epic  :D

4/5

Quote
my score for recent movies you may have seen:

5/5 - The Way Back, The Kings Speech, Michael Clayton, In Bruges, Gran Torino, Mary and Max

4.5/5 - Taken, Iron Man, Reign Over Me, Watchmen, The girl with the dragon tattoo

4/5 - True Grit, Traitor, Bedtime Stories, Sunshine, pineapple express

3.5/5 - 300, Max Payne, You dont mess with the Zohan, Yes Man

3/5 - That new Indiana Jones flick, Disturbia, That new TMNT flick,

2.5/5 - Angels and Demons

2/5 - The Love Guru. Note: My 2 is probably someone elses 1. Just leaving room for worse!

Just the first frame of that trailer brings back too much "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" for me.

I'm just glad this thread isn't about Clifford the Big Red Dog....I swear I am going to ignite that damn Clifford book my son has if I have to read it to him one more time.

Red Dog was actually pretty good back in the 90s, or at least I thought so when I was 15 or so.

Don't worry, the only similarities is a bus and lots of desert. There is a lot of both in Australia  ;D

Ok, I'll keep an eye out for it.  I'm a sucker for a good animal movie, but I don't know if I could take that lady screaming "I your wife!" again.

I read the book a couple of years ago, very good. Hope the film does it justice...

That and Mad Dog 20/20  :dizzy:

Rum was 99 cents a bottle on sale where I grew up, so we didn't much bother with the eye doctor (MD 20/20) unless it was on a dare or something.  And it was usually mixed with aforementioned rum.   ;D

is king cobra still 1.00?  that is bum status when you see people drinking those.
