I actually finished this a couple of weeks ago, but just got access to a digicam, so i thought i'd post a quick pic (more may come)

SNAAAAKE did some great artwork for me, incorporating my fav. characters from Virtua Fighter 4, MK, and SF of course (now i wish i'd waited till Soul Calibur 2 came out, oh well!)

Anyway, just another props to snaaaake for doing great work!

Nope, not plexi, it's Lexan Tuff. I used a jigsaw with a metal blade, i think 22 or 28 tpi, and a LOT of patience. You can't actually see it, but the lower left corner broke

I think it looks pretty good for a first CP. The molding is self-adhesive stuff i found at Rona's (canadian big box) Home Depot didn't have anything like it.

turns out i really like the button layout. I've been using the CP pretty much exclusively for Soul Calibur 2 recently, and it's a great layout for it.

mame works well, though the angle on all six buttons is a bit extreme. you get used to it quick

I was wondering how long it would take before someone mentionned them

Basically, my CP has two uses, MAME and PS(2). I play a fair amount of PS fighting games (Virtua Fighter4, soul calibur) these require 3 and 4 main buttons respectively, and put combos on the L1L2/R1R2 buttons. I liked the original soul blade layout that i'd played before, and i wanted a design where both L* and R* buttons were the same distance from center.

By putting the buttons in a 3x3-1 square, i accomplished that, plus had a 3x2 grid for Street Fighter style games

An additional bonus i hadn't noticed was the fact that it's also perfect for Mortal Combat (e.g. 2 on each side, with a block in the middle)

The angle for SF takes a little getting used to, but otherwise, i'm quite happy with it.

no not really... as both of those games use 4 or 6 buttons and are layed out as follows in the arcade.....

1 2

6buttons=

4 5 6
1 2 3

Putting combos on keys is cheating... be a man and play the right way.  
Have you ever heard of redefining keys? Works on the ps2 as well as the pc.

actually, the soul edge machine had my layout... there may have been multiple configs, but this is what i was used to (virtual fighter series had a triangular layout as well)

as for SF i've seen so many variations (and played on so many). The corner store where i spent most of my arcade money had it in an up-angled setup a little like mine

The reason i have the cheater buttons is because not all games only require the 4 buttons. (for exmaple, i was playing ff7 on my console yesterday, it makes the snowboarding aspects MUCH easier )
