On-Board Chip/Video Card Conflict
« on: August 06, 2011, 11:23:00 pm »
I've been using an nvidia card instead of the on-board chip for the last 5 years with no problems on my arcade. today, the card malfunctioned so I figured OK time to upgrade. the new card will not get recognized by the mobo and instead pushes for the on-board chip to be ON.

I tried the BIOS but the only option is AUTO (either card when monitor is plugged in) or BOTH (for dual).

I uninstalled the drivers and clear the registry and downloaded the current drivers for the new card but still it won't recognize the new card.

Anyone having this same issue? Any solutions? Thnx!

Have you tried updating or "flashing" your Bios to the newest verson??

That's really odd that your bios do not have a disable.... is a POS Dell?  Sound like it.

A few stupid questions:
You did double check that it's seated all the way?
Any chance the card requires external power, and you haven't supplied it?
Could your mobo be an older PCI-E system for which current cards are not backwards compatible?

So select 'dual' in the bios.

+1 great idea COTMM68030.  Double check your install of the card.... and also try another card if you have it.
