Anyone created cabinet artwork using corel painter?
« on: August 04, 2011, 01:56:36 pm »
Hey,

I had this idea that my next project would have a vintage horror movie poster theme to it. So I was going to "paint" my own artwork using Corel Painter and a Wacom tablet. Unfortunately, I haven't used painter since Painter 4 came out in the mid 90's. I have to admit, there is a much steeper learning curve than I remember. I was able to make some 'OK' art when dinking around teaching myself the program last night, but nothing worth pinning on an arcade cabinet.

I guess my first question is does anyone know if "painted" art will even look good on an arcade cabinet setting. All the arcade artwork I can think of on the top of my head had crisp lines and limited colors.

Also, with Painter, can someone recommend some good starter brushes to use. There are so many differnt mediums, brushes and brush styles, I was having a hard time finding any ones that I like.

Any other tips would be welcome as well.
